ACADEMIC CURICULUM
Kingdom Citizens College runs a six-year program divided into two sections – The Junior Secondary School (JSS) and the Senior Secondary School (SSS) in accordance with the National Policy on Education, simply described as the 6-3-3-4 system of education.
Junior Secondary
The College runs the National Junior Secondary School program.
In the first three years, the College emphasizes the basic skills in the core subjects which are:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Basic Science
- Basic Technology
- Social Studies
- Agricultural Science
- French
- Christian Religious Studies
- Fine Art
- Physical Education
- Hausa Language
- Information Technology
- Home Economics/Health Education
- Business Studies
- Music
- Civic Education
After the first three years, the students take the same Junior School Certificate Examinations as the Federal Colleges, conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO), Minna. As well as the state Junior School Certificate Examination (JSCE)
Senior Secondary
During the fourth, fifth and sixth years, students are prepared for the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, Joint Admission & Matriculation Board examination and the Cambridge Overseas GCE Examination, all of which they take in the third term of their sixth year.
Each student takes the six core subjects:
• English Language
• Mathematics or Mathematics with Further Mathematics
• Geography, History or English Literature
• Biology, Physics or Chemistry
• Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing or Creative Arts
• Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba
• Information Technology
In addition to the core subjects, a student chooses three subjects from the options, which are
• Physics or History
• Chemistry, Art, or Geography
• Economics
• Christian Religious Studies, French or Art.
